TUESDAY, 15th OCTOBER 2019 @ 8:00pm
An urgent and important EGM has been arranged for Tuesday, 15th October 2019 at 8:00pm
It is important that as many members as possible should attend this meeting as it involves potential changes to our constitution to secure the theatre’s short and long-term future.
All members will shortly receive an invitation to attend together with a letter from our chairman, Malcolm Jones, with more detailed explanations of the proposals to be discussed and voted on.
Briefly, these are as follows:
- Amend Clause 8 of our Memorandum so that, in the event of the theatre closing or being sold, we preserve our net assets by converting to a charitable trust.
- Amend the Constitution to remove Article 38.3. This relates to the number of members needed to make a reconvened General Meeting quorate
- Appoint John Drewry to the advisory position of Honorary Life President of Beckenham Theatre
- Details of the theatre’s current constitution can be read here: http://beckenhamtheatre.com/constitution/
The aim of the trustees is to keep Beckenham Theatre open as a creative, sociable and active centre both for our members and for the wider community. To do this, we need your support to progress.
We look forward to seeing you on the 15th October.
Chairman, Beckenham Theatre Trustees
