Following last year’s sad closure of the old Beckenham Theatre on Bromley Road, our members have now regrouped and moved to a new venue 200 metres up the road – please give a big welcome to the new Beckenham Theatre Company now based at Beckenham Methodist Church in Bromley Road!
We’d love you to come and support us in our new location when we present our production of THE FARNDALE AVENUE HOUSING ESTATE TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD DRAMATIC SOCIETY’s MURDER MYSTERY, a comedy by David McGillivray & Walter Zelin Jnr and directed by Fleur Buckley, between the 24th and 26th March 2022. Performances on Thursday and Friday, 24th and 25th March starting at 8 pm and on Saturday, 26th March at the earlier time of 6 pm.
Last performed by BTC as our 2016 Kent Drama Festival entry and always a favourite with amateur theatre companies and audiences alike, this new version of this hilarious and highly entertaining show is a great way to open our account as Beckenham Theatre Company and the first show, we hope, of many more to come in the future.
To make life simple, we’ve kept ticket bookings to “by phone” only on this occasion whilst we get reorganized and find our bearings in our new home. So please call 07971 810995 to book tickets though you can, of course, pay at the door as well. Please note, that payment at the venue – both for tickets and for refreshments, programmes etc, will be by cash only until we get fully sorted.
Our new home is much bigger than our old one and has plenty of seats available – it even has a gallery so you can pretend you’re in the circle! – so please feel free to bring as many family members and friends with you as well! And despite the title, it’s pretty family-friendly so is suitable for older children and teenagers too. If you are looking for a comparison then, if you’ve seen any of the “Plays That Go Wrong” either in the West End or more recently, on TV, well the Farndales (there are more of them!) got there first!…
Here’s a little summary of the play:
The Farndale ladies are this year presenting a Murder Mystery:
As the Bishop family descend on their stately pile to hear the reading of the patriarch’s will they are being picked off one by one by a dastardly killer. The intrepid Inspector O’Reilly of the Yard (2b Cobblers Yard) is called in to try and find out who is the villain, how to make a souffle and will the set stay up. Will O’Reilly be in time to save the remaining family members or is he just a pawn in the killer’s diabolical plot.
We look forward to seeing you at the new BTC at the end of March and Psst! Don’t keep it quiet – tell all your friends as everyone is welcome!
